Do you have a teen that suffers from back pain?
I just finished a tennis match with a woman who asked me about massage for teens. Her daughter's boyfriend suffers from back pain and takes Advil daily to releive it. He has been going to physical therapy where they have been working to strengthen his core muscles, however, his back pain seems to be worse afterwards. The PT is only focusing on strengthening, not stretching the muscles, which is so important for the health of soft tissues.
Most teens today have very poor posture, as they are hunched over their computers and cell phones so much of the day. Some are athletes, but are they stretching their muscles daily? Many lack the proper amount of daily fruits, vegetables and water intake, which can also contribute to muscular pain.
There is no age too young to receive the benefits of regular massage therapy. Massage therapy is recognized by the medical community as an excellent tool for preventative healthcare. Does your teen or one you know suffer from muscular pain? If skeletal problems have been ruled out, have them give massage a try!
